Terms of Service
Last updated: September 5, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Plantrify ("Plantrify", "we", "us", or "our") governing your access to and use of the Plantrify software, server, connector, and related services (together, the "Services"). By adding the connector, signing in to the consent screen, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Our Services
Plantrify is a meal-planning tool for a single household. It stores your recipes and meal plans as plain-text files in a private folder, derives a consolidated shopping list from those files on demand, and can send that list to a third-party grocery cart (currently Kroger and Walmart). You reach the Services through a Model Context Protocol ("MCP") connector that you add to a compatible AI assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude. The assistant runs commands and edits files inside a restricted sandbox on your behalf.
Plantrify is not a grocery retailer, a delivery service, or a payment processor. We do not sell groceries, set prices, guarantee product availability, place orders, or complete any purchase. Any transaction with a grocery retailer is solely between you and that retailer, under that retailer's own terms.
The Services are provided for personal, household use. They are not designed for, and must not be relied on for, medical, dietary, allergen, or nutritional decision-making. Ingredient data, quantities, and substitutions are generated automatically and may be wrong. You are responsible for checking anything that matters, including allergen and dietary safety, before you rely on it.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Services. By using the Services you represent that you meet these requirements and that all registration and account information you provide is accurate and kept current.
3. Accounts, Connectors, and Credentials
Access to the Services requires an authorized connection. When you connect an AI assistant, our server issues credentials (for example, OAuth client registrations and bearer tokens) that let that assistant act on your behalf. You are responsible for keeping these credentials, and any grocery-retailer sign-in you complete, confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your connection, whether or not you authorized each individual action.
You may revoke a connection at any time through your assistant's connector settings or by contacting us. Revoking a connection does not undo actions already taken, including items already added to a grocery cart.
4. AI and Automated Processing
The Services are operated through an AI assistant that you choose and control. That assistant decides which commands to run, which files to write, which products to propose, and what to send to a grocery cart, based on your instructions to it. Plantrify executes those commands inside the sandbox; it does not independently review them for correctness or intent.
You are responsible for the instructions you give your assistant and for the results. Review proposed changes, shopping lists, and cart contents before you act on them. Automated output is informational only and is not professional advice of any kind.
5. Third-Party Grocery Services
Features that connect to Kroger, Walmart, or any other retailer depend on that retailer's APIs and accounts, which we do not control and which may change or stop working at any time. When you use these features:
- You authorize Plantrify to submit product searches and cart additions to that retailer using the access you granted.
- A cart addition is attempted at most once and is never retried. If any line item is ambiguous, the entire send stops rather than partially completing.
- Plantrify cannot read, modify, or delete the contents of a retailer cart. It can report only what it attempted to send.
- Prices, substitutions, availability, fulfillment, delivery, returns, and checkout are governed entirely by the retailer and its terms and privacy policy.
6. Your Content and Data
Your recipes, meal plans, preferences, notes, and other files (your "Content") remain yours. You grant us a limited license to store, process, copy, and transmit your Content only as needed to operate the Services for you — for example, to run commands against the folder, keep version history, derive a shopping list, and send that list to a retailer you chose.
You are solely responsible for your Content and for keeping your own backups. The folder is a version-controlled set of Markdown files and can be exported at any time in a standard, machine-readable form. We are not liable for loss, corruption, or unauthorized access to Content except to the extent required by law.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Services for anything other than lawful, personal household meal planning;
- attempt to escape, disable, or probe the sandbox, or to reach the network, host filesystem, or other systems from inside it;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the server, other accounts, or any credential, token, or environment value the server holds;
- interfere with or overload the Services, or circumvent rate limits, quotas, or security controls;
- scrape, resell, or redistribute the Services, or use them to build a competing product;
- use the Services to violate a grocery retailer's terms, or to place orders you are not authorized to place;
- upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or malicious.
8. Fees
If a paid plan applies to your use of the Services, the price, billing period, and renewal terms will be presented to you before you are charged. Unless stated otherwise, fees are billed in advance, recur automatically until cancelled, and are non-refundable except where required by law. You authorize us to charge your payment method for all applicable fees. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
9. Intellectual Property
The Services, including the server software, the command-line tools, the document conventions, and all associated marks and text, are owned by Plantrify or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services for their intended purpose. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. This does not restrict any separate open-source license under which parts of the software may also be distributed.
10. Service Changes and Availability
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, with or without notice. The Services may be unavailable during maintenance, upgrades, or failures, including failures of third-party providers. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Services.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law, or if continuing to provide the Services becomes impractical. On termination, your right to use the Services ends. You may request an export of your Content before termination or within a reasonable period afterward, unless prohibited by law.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, THAT SHOPPING LISTS OR QUANTITIES WILL BE ACCURATE, THAT PRODUCTS PROPOSED OR SENT TO A CART WILL BE CORRECT, AVAILABLE, OR APPROPRIATE FOR ANY DIETARY OR ALLERGEN NEED, OR THAT ANY THIRD-PARTY INTEGRATION WILL CONTINUE TO FUNCTION.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PLANTRIFY AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR THE COST OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Plantrify and its owners and operators from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Services, your Content, your instructions to an AI assistant, your use of a third-party grocery account, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. If the dispute is not resolved, it will be settled by binding arbitration on an individual basis under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, seated in Texas. You and Plantrify waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. This section does not prevent either party from seeking injunctive relief in court for infringement or misuse of intellectual property, or from bringing an individual claim in small-claims court.
16. Electronic Communications
By using the Services you consent to receive communications from us electronically, and you agree that electronic agreements, notices, and records satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where practical, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
18. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreement on that subject. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, agency, or employment relationship between the parties.
